Art of Empty Space
This work consists, at present, of the following components:
1. An English-language text work, Art of Empty Space
Translator and compiler: Gabriela Mancey-Jones
(Final version completed in September 2026)
2. A Japanese-language volume compiled from my writings and spoken material
Compilers: Megumi Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanaka
(Completed in October 2026)
3. The webpage of the video and image-sharing website referenced in the text work
(Updated in real time)
4. A binding strap for holding components 1 and 2 together
(Material: Oil paint on canvas)
Each component may be experienced independently or in combination with the others. Accordingly, the work is designed so that no understanding of Japanese is required for its appreciation.
The first component is an English translation and compilation of texts originally written in Japanese and spoken material provided by me. Although I am not an English speaker and possess only limited knowledge of English, I have personally reviewed this version.
The second component is a project in which I have no involvement. It is being compiled independently by Megumi Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanaka, both Japanese nationals and native speakers of Japanese. I do not know whether they have consulted the English text described in the first component. Until the public presentation of the compiled volume, I do not intend to be involved in any aspect of its preparation and will not know what has been selected, arranged, or omitted. Any involvement on my part would merely duplicate the work already undertaken for the English version. Nevertheless, the volume compiled by Nakamura and Tanaka forms an important component of this work.
The Japanese text originally written and completed by me will not be presented.

The Lost Work

"These materials and works are records of a work I once created, referred to here as Work A, whose whereabouts are now unknown. These records were left by people other than myself, each in their own way.
I will not recreate Work A. Instead, it will be presented through these records.
